Occupations of the Moon
Pretending to sleep,
Pretending to creep,
Out of sight,
The streets too bright,
Filtering through the shutters,
Murmuring into shudders.
It’s no big deal if I can’t close my eyes.
It’s no big deal if I can’t close my eyes.
Is it a puppet show or just…
People’s shadows, I trust…
Hugging each other into dust.
Their reflects on my ceiling,
Pretending to be dancing.
The summer’s pretending to be cold,
And to dream for the rest of the world.
It’s no big deal if I won’t close my eyes.
It’s no big deal if I won’t close my eyes.
The sheets are covered in napkins,
Sweat made it fuse to my skin.
My lids getting heavy, yet still refusing,
Tonight is endless, they won’t be closing.
Summer is telling me to fear it…
The only thing looming is a sentiment of giving
It won’t matter if I can’t close my eyes,
It won’t matter if I can’t close my eyes.
My breath’s been cut short,
They’re calling me outdoors.
The window kid, the window kid…
It’s nothing to care about the beauty outside
They’re crawling down the chimney,
While I’m staying inside.
It’s okay, I won’t close my eyes,
It’s okay, I won’t close my eyes.
Overhearing conversations in the building.
Someone today is visiting.
They told me to rest and find reasons to sleep.
Then started their process by counting sheep.
Sit on the couch side, white gloves and a smile.
Please stop, it’s no art.
I might not know who I am but I know who you aren’t
So stop selling me dreams, I spent all my funds living.
I won’t close my eyes.
Two hours in the night.
It’s hard to breathe alright.
The shadows can’t keep their quiet.
I stand up, or not quite…
I lean to the chair, sit and sigh
Out the window, out my room, out…
So I look up and wonder
The occupations of the Moon
