The power of words

2 minutes de lecture

There are filthy and repugnant, abusive and outrageous words

Some words are sweet to the ears and hearts, listen to them…

There are words that are harmful to the mind, escape from their power.

On the one hand, there are subtle and refined words that reveal the hugeness of a culture, and on the other hand, crude words that show a cultural gulf.

There are beautiful words to the splendor of poetry and the beauty of a living language…

There are vulgar words and a certain vocabulary that foretell the collapse of a culture…

There are words that are no longer in use here and words that come from elsewhere, new words that are born and old ones which disappear yearly.

Time carries along in its wild run some words whilst it makes others arise out of the crossroads of two or more cultures.

There are trendy terms that everyone has picked up on, and words that are proper to certain insiders and specific fields of activity.

These words are based on specialist language and on a well-defined jargon.

Do not replace one word with another, this distorts the speech and can lead to possible misunderstanding.

Do not overuse scholarly language in a way which makes the talk heavy and decreases the chances of being grasped, which is the main aim of any speech.

Treat words skillfully because many words improperly used can ruin the meaning of the discourse and lead to senseless speech.

Some words liberate while others condemn, when the former builds up destiny, the latter ruins it.

May your mouths be able to free the first ones and doom the second ones.

Let your ears be opened to the mouths that bring out the former, and, at the push, hear distractedly the ones that employ the latter.

The stars will naturally shine in your eyes before people who use words which bring wings, and who are keen on human dignity.

Your eyes will blush at the ones using words which hurt and break carelessly for the humanity of their neighbor.

Of course, your hearts will clasp the souls of the mouths that release the words which build and will shy away from those whose mouths destroy.

Use uplifting words instead of stain ones, and if, unwittingly, you happen to use a word that hurts, beg forgiveness, because pardon has the power to wipe an unsightly word that has slipped out of your mouth.

Words are weapons, when they are carried by an angry heart they can be deadly. Once we realize this, anger will be dissolved through the silence of wisdom.
